touching a dead body

Post by michel67 » Mon Apr 26, 2010 7:51 pm

So i just come to find out that it says in scripture we are not to touch a dead body?

I touched my fathers hand and held it a moment at his funeral when he was in the coffin, i also left a picture of me with him in the coffin . If i had known at the time i probably wouldnt have done it.

I wasnt aware we are not suppossed to touch a dead body,, so if you do what happens from it ?

I too have touched a dead body. I held my baby in my arms after he died,I kissed my room-mate on the check, and kissed my brother goodbye. I don't understand this either. They had to touch Jesus died body when they took Him off the Cross. Please explain.

From Great Bible Study.com:

Touching dead bodies and spiritual defilement

Home > Touching dead bodies and spiritual defilement
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you ever touched or kissed a dead body of a family member or friend at their funeral? I have seen people come under great bondage simply by touching the deceased body of a loved one. God's Word warns us that touching a dead body can defile us spiritually:

Numbers 19:13, "Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him."

Numbers 9:6, "And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man..."

I just spoke with somebody the other day who touched a dead body when he was a child, and at that moment something very evil and scary entered him, and he was never the same since. I believe it was that night when he was sleeping, he awoke to see red velvet walls around him, as if he was inside a casket. Today I just spoke with another person who experienced something similar after touching a dead body... she started having horrible nightmares about the person who had died.

Grave yards and funeral homes are often crawling with demons. I know of somebody who lived in funeral home and could testify to the haunting they experienced there... doors slamming at night, strange noises, etc. How does this happen? When a person dies, the demons that have been inhabiting them are left hanging onto the body, and can remain around that body for years before they find a new home.

I remember one person telling how they had nothing but problems in their new home... it was as if the place was cursed! Come to find out, their property was an old Indian graveyard and the land was defiled and haunted by demons. Land can be defiled just like people as we can see in Leviticus:

Leviticus 18:25, "And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants."

Touching or kissing a dead body can be very dangerous spiritually, because not only do you become defiled but you are literally allowing the demons that are hanging onto that body to practically jump over on you. I know people who have done this, and right afterwards began to experience spiritual torment in their lives... it is nothing to play around with!

How do you deal with such a bondage? First I believe we should repent for touching the dead body, then I would break any ungodly soul ties with that person, break the curse of death in your life, and then begin to cast out any spirits that have entered in through that open door.
"And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." THIS is what I was born to do.

OK I am still not understanding this. Does that mean when the took Our Lord down from the Cross those who touched His body to prepare it for burial were defiled. Plus I did read where Jesus told the one man let the died bury the dead. I did ask the Lord to forgive me and I am greatful for what you wrote but could you explain. I am new to all this and I want to keep myself from any open doors, May God Bless us all. In Jesus Name

touching a dead body

Trying to understand from everyone's point of view ... everyone has a different view it seems.. so maybe its okay by grace? Alot of people have touched dead bodies i know, doctors, paramedics, loved ones, etc.. but i can also understand how it can be wrong to and scripturally wrong to i guess.

As I mentioned before, I now of two people who became demon possesed by touching a dead person in thier dreams. Its true that for us we cant easily understand how this can be but never forget that Satan and his minions are leagalists.

Satan knows extremly well what sin is and how he can use our own sins against us. We can even fall prey to satan from a generational curse, even tho we did not have anything to do with our ancestors sins. Not to mention if someone brutalizes us, even tho' we had not sinned, that alone can be a legal grounds for the demonic to enter. Even the seemingly minor sins can be a pretext for demonic possesion. For example, I know of someone who had the demons "Nutrasweet" and "Tylenoyl" cast out (and yes, I'm serious).

Fortunatley for those of us in Christ, All we have to do is confess our sins and He is faithful to forgive, which removes the legal rights from our enemy so we can cast them out and be free.
"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19:10

I have been through countless exorcisms with hundreds of people over the past 10 years. The issue is that when a person dies, the demons remain within their body, they do not automatically exit.

Demons want to live in warm bodies, not in dry, cold places (see the scriptures). They will need to leave that dead body soon because the body will not stay that warm cozy place they have come to love, for long. Once the demons realize this, they will latch on and INTO anything or anyone they can. I know this by experience as folks have come in for prayer.
"And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." THIS is what I was born to do.
