Why do I continue to keep on sinning, when I know it's wrong

I'm not sure what to do, or how to do it...but I'm sick of going thru this over and over and over again. I'm addicted to pornography, and I want out. It's wrong and I want to experience freedom from it, once and for all. I need help.

Hi Keith and welcome to the forum!

You are not alone by no means. There are a lot of sincere Christians struggling in the same way. Pornography and lust are generally rooted in the need to be loved but can also be generational. Almost all addictions are rooted in:

1) the need to be loved (therefore, they are turning to other means to fulfill that need)

2) low self-esteem and an incorrectly perceived identity (not getting it into their spirit who they are in Christ)

3) a means of escapism (when a person is tormented mentally or emotionally, and is using something to escape their torment)

Once a person opens themselves up to spirits of addiction, lust, pornography, etc., those must be cast out as well as ministering to the root of the bondage. Learning who you are in Christ is HUGE in your journey to spiritual freedom and wholeness. Casting out demons is also an important step that you don't want to overlook.

If you visit the GreatBibleStudy.com web site, there is a lot of information about spiritual bondages. Plus, there is a referral request form on this site which you can use to locate a deliverance minister hopefully in your area.

Hope this helps you brother!
Robert
Religion brings outward conformity; relationship transforms the heart.
It was the religious folks who hated and murdered the Son of God.
Is it not rightly said that religion is Satan's version of Christianity?

Hi Kieth,

I'm so glad you came here. This is a safe place to talk and get help. Robert L. has some great advice. There is freedom in Christ.

Welcome to this awesome home Keith! From ministering to others I want to speek truth to you that I believe could be the "root" killer. You have a Heavenly Father that loves you, the very you that you are. His will is that you are totally free...did you see The Passion of Christ? That's a picture of His love for you...that Love is a gift and gifts are to be received. You are worthy to receive the Love, receive my friend and then use the tools of ministry that's made available to you! You are on the road to freedom!
Ps 27:10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
the LORD will receive me.

Keep on keeping on!

If you are serious about this, talk to Robert and get help ASAP. And i recommend not doing this alone .... a group of other believers in the same situation and accountability with them i think would be a huge plus!!!

One case which i know of a male who overcame this, he cried out in prayer at a prayer meeting, and God healed him. He had support (prayer), a little biblical guidance, and huge accountability from his spouse.

Addictions are unique. What I mean they are easily replaced by another.
The bible says resist the devil and he will flee.
Here's som advice
1. Get rid of all material
2. Stop going to places where you buy or view material.
3. When tempted pick up the bible instead.

Don't give the devil a foothold. Instead of buy material at a store buy a soda and chip, and if your not going to eat them give them to a homeless person.
Start your day off right. The first thing you do before you even get out of bed right after you wake up, Talk to our Father. He's there to listen and help. He will deliver you. If you make a 10% effort HE will do 90% guaranteed.
We will be praying for you.

I would also add one last thing to the great support and information already given. In the word of God in the Book of Ephesians we are told in Chapter 6 we are in a battle. The battle is set in the spiritual realm as well as the natural realm says the Apostle Paul by defining that the very things we struggle with, as unseen forces. Paul also explains that we are to take unto ourselves the very Armor of God. It is our equipment for surviving the battle! Y'know the thoughts we battle with and the desires we struggle
with are prime areas of opportunity for the demonic. The word of God then needs to become our lamp in the darkness, our weapon in the battle, our shelter when we grow weary, our fortress when we are under siege, and our
provider in times of famine, our encouragement in times of despair!
Yet without it we lack all things,y'know we need to know the Bible backwards and forewords by heart, I don't but I realize that this is the very victory I seek in my life contained within God's word,if I struggled
with Pornography the answer to overcoming is God's word,it removes opposition and fashions me an understanding of how God can assist me through prayer, and faith but how I can understand and recognize every area in my life that doesn't line up to Him!

I would like to show you the following that God gives us to protect us
from Satan,Principalities,Powers,Rulersof Darkness,Dominions and Thrones!

The Belt of Truth:
While this belt may seem only symbolic it reminds us daily that our words and our actions should line up with the truth!(remember how humble Jesus was and His words were truth, the Devil was subverted every time he challenged Christ merely by truthful words!)

The Helm of Salvation:
When we place this upon our heads symbolically it is to remind us that the enemy approaches us through our thought patterns with lies, deceptions, accusations and deciet. This helm is meant to stave off the enemy in that arena and remind us where the battlefield is....in our minds!
When we overcomewrong ideas we cast them down and our lives get better! Pretty soon bad ideas arecastout so frequently that it becomes like second nature!"John get Angry tell them how you feel!" to the Devil"Get lost Satan,I have more people to share God with!"

The BreastPlate of Righteousness:
A wonderful example of how we can remain right standing before God through His forgiveness, our forgiveness of self and others, and our repentance, wearing this means we are in right standing with God!

The Shoes of Peace:
Not so much different than Love is Peace,Peace implies we are to be humble and not spiteful or chaotic, not railing or accusing others!
We seek unity and cooperation first! ( Jesus rarely rose up against opposition once he nealt down and said "He who is without sin let him cast
the first stone!" by doing this Jesus avoided the riot!

"The Shield of Faith:" Faith is the evidence of things hoped for and not yet seen it is our determination that all things God including,
our foundation, our redemption and the power to claim all the promises in the word of God through the finished work of Jesus CHrist upon the Cross of Calvary is open and available to us! It is in fact the promise!

"The Sword of the Spirit:" Lookout this is your weapon, the very weapon of our warfare,Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil and His approach was the very words he spoke....as it is written man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God!" When we learn to recite the wordof God and apply the word of God
not just being hearers of that word but doers of it we can take authority over all the things the Devil uses against us!

Now all this being said, some will take years to understand the warfare
that is being waged against them, but with a proper understanding of whom God is,not just an idea, and a firm understanding of who you are in God that authority over things in your life will come! It comes by the following...........
"Taking every thought captive to Christ!" When you learn to do this as
well as forgiving others and yourself, learning to love the things of God and instilling those things in your life you will break free of the vices presented so craftily to you by the devil!
Doortwelve
In that day they will say, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation."(Isaiah 25:6-9)
