Are all demons the same?Please take a moment to read What the ministry of deliverance should be! The Bible makes it clear that not all demons are the same. Some are more wicked than others, some are stronger than others, and they can serve completely different functions. Some demons are stronger than others, as we can see in Mark 9:29 where Jesus told His disciples that they weren't able to cast out that particular kind of demon because they lacked faith. He went on to tell them that this kind of demon only comes out after prayer and fasting (which builds your faith). Ephesians 6:12 also speaks of different ranks of demons in Satan's army: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." There are different types of demons that serve different functions, such as in Mark 9:25 the spirit was called a deaf and dumb spirit, whereas other spirits can cause fear and depression, such as in 1 Samuel 16:14 where Saul was tormented. 1 Samuel 16:14, "Now the Spirit of the LORD had left Saul, and the LORD sent a tormenting spirit that filled him with depression and fear." (NLT) Mark 9:25, "When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him." Some evil spirits are even more wicked than others, as we can see in Matthew 12:43,45: "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none... Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
