Believed lies will put us in bondage
John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
This is a powerful passage, and goes on to show us how the truth (found in the Bible) has liberating power to it. It’s not just any book, it’s a living, anointed, life-giving Word from God! Jesus made it clear that knowing the truth shall set us free. When people believe lies about themselves or about God, it puts them in great bondage. Many are tormented by fears of being hopeless, because they see God as a cruel, distant taskmaster (which is so not true!) or they hate themselves, because they keep beating them self up over failures in their past (when they were already erased by the Blood of Jesus!).
My point is this: If the truth can make us free, then that means when we believe lies from the enemy of our souls, then we will fall into bondage. The lies that Satan feeds us can land us in bondage if we accept/believe them.
We need to not believe the lies of Satan, but get into the Word of God, and know the truth… that we might believe it, accept it, and be made free! The #1 weapon against strongholds is the Word of God, because strongholds are built on lies and false beliefs that we have accepted and believed!
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
